September 2014

September is definitely a month of adjusting to school and new schedules as we say goodbye to our leisurely summer. We had some beautiful summer weather in September and took advantage of one gorgeous day to explore the area on the other side of our mountain. We found a campground and a lake. It was no Slough pond - very muddy bottom so not the best swimming. But we had a picnic dinner and roasted our last marshmallows of the season.

We often stop at a park to play in the sun on free days after school. One of our favorite parks has recently revamped all their playground equipment and since then we have dubbed in "spinning park" since almost every new piece of equipment involves spinning. They must have had Rachel and Carson in mind because they LOVE to spin!

The kids continue to amaze me with their Lego creations. Carson created a Lego creature to match one of his favorite Pokemon cards (his other passion). Rachel loves to collect all the little animals offered by Lego and create homes for them.

Rachel's first field trip in 3rd grade was to the Planetarium in Salt Lake City. It was fun to be a chaperone for her class. We even got to see a 3D movie about the Hubble space telescope, it was amazing!
