Thomas Train

Uncle Pete and Aunt Jen came to visit for Memorial Day weekend and we all had fun going to see Thomas Train at the Heber Valley Railroad. It was a short train ride through some scenic farmland and the kids loved it. Rachel received a "Junior Engineer Certificate", a fun momento to take home and hang on the bulletin board. The Thomas Train event included several tents set up with fun things for kids. Rachel loved the little petting zoo where she got to comb some miniature horses, and she loved making bubbles with a large bubble wand. She even got a little Thomas Train sticker put on her face (see last photo)! A fun time for all and the kids were sound asleep in the car on the ride home.

Carson Walking!

Just this week Carson started walking! He was hesitant at first but is starting to get more comfortable with it. He still favors crawling when he wants to get somewhere quickly. And he does the "Frankenstein" walk with arms outstretched and legs far apart, usually reaching for a toy. He has no regard for whatever might be on the floor in front of him, so Mom is usually frantically trying to clear his path so he avoids tripping. But he's getting better at catching himself before he falls.

Also had to throw in these adorable pictures of Carson with some funny sunglasses. Carson loves to put things on his head and its not just hats - it also includes glasses. These seem to be his favorite, despite the broken lense.

I took this picture while Carson was eating his breakfast the other day. His "morning hair" is so adorable.

Hogle Zoo

Last weekend we celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday at Salt Lake City's Hogle Zoo. We had lots of fun and beautiful weather. We started at the zoo's play area where Carson enjoyed climbing in a big dinosaur egg and Rachel loved the see-saw. We also rode the little train and fed the ducks (Rachel's favorites). We saw lots of monkeys, elephants, and rhinos. Pizza for lunch and ice cream afterwards made it a perfect day! We got "Mom & Me" t-shirts and the ice cream was free with the price of admission. Rachel talked about our zoo trip for days, she just loved it and can't wait to go back.

The Mad Hatter

We have recently discovered Carson's penchant for hats. He loves to put things on his head and will try just about anything. Here are some recent shots of assorted things on his head. What a cutie.
